ABOUT THE SOMERSET COLLECTIVE
The Somerset Collective’s unique pop up sales started in 2015 in Somerset raising money for charity. Set up by friends Gemma Bond and Nicky Mendoza-Wilson, they have since stepped back due to other commitments (such as Nicky’s wonderful shop Rose & Lyons in Bruton) and the Collective is now run by Jess Hyde (that’s her on the right).
The pop up events have grown and developed over the years, becoming increasingly popular with loyal shoppers in the South West. Twice yearly sales have been held in At The Chapel, Bruton (in Spring and Christmas) and we have expanded to other venues such as Hammonds Farm B&B in Stroud and at Jordans Courtyard near Ilminster. With an extensive directory of local, independent businesses all keen to sell at our events there is something for everyone. At every pop up we have regular favourites and Jess loves finding new businesses to invite to keep every sale different. We like to ensure that all our sellers have an ethical/sustainable angle to their business, and they all help to promote the event. See our Sellers page to find out more about some of them.
Over £9000 has been raised for a number of charities over the years and we look forward to carrying on this tradition by raising more money at each of our sales. The charity for each sale is chosen by the venue and in the past has included The Nelson Trust, Action For Pulmonary Fibrosis, Yeovil Hospital Maternity Unit, Alzheimer’s Society, Lisa’s Army, The British Legion and The Rosie Crane Trust.
